Location

The villa is located in Faicchio near Naples, Sorrento and Amalfi Coast.  Faicchio is famous for its Castello Ducale medieval festival which occurs every June.  Faicchio is off the beaten track away from normal tourist attractions but still allowing the possibility for one to visit the most famous of Italian sites. Faicchio boasts sunshine the majority of year with the best times to visit between April and October.  Skiing is available in Matese in the winter and generally winter in Faicchio is much milder than the UK.  

Faicchio has a wealth of quaint shops, a local supermarket and many bars and restaurants. It is approx 40 mins from Naples, 90 mins from Sorrento and Amalfi Coast where you can see attractions such as Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii, the bay of Naples and the famous Amalfi Coast. Convento San Pasquale is located above Faicchio and dates back to the late 15th century. Telese is an approx 5 min drive from Faicchio. Telese is famous for its sulphur springs which have the reputation for helping the treatment of skin diseases, digestive, respiratory and rheumatism problems.

Caserta is some 30 mins drive from Faicchio and is renowned for its Royal Palace (La Reggia di Caserta). Caserta also boasts the Old Palace (Palazzo Vecchio), an 18th Century Cathedral and the Aqueduct of Vanvitelli. Casertavecchia is the ancient centre which houses the older properties dating back from 861 AD. Modern Caserta has many shops such as Gucci, Dolce and Gabbana, and Valentino etc. Caserta is a lively town with many shops, restaurants and bars. Piedimonte Matese has many churches to visit. The town itself has many shops, bars and restaurants. You can find good quality leather shoe shops with shoes handmade. You can even find a tailors who will, for a price, made a beautiful Italian suit for you. Matese is situated ½ hour drive from Piedimonte itself. Matese sits on top of Mount Matese. It is striking. Its lakes are cool and views truly breathtaking. Matese can be thought of as one of lives hidden treasures. Take time to go and visit. Skiing is available throughout the winter months.

The coast is approximately 1 hour drive. Southern Italy is fully equipped with local beaches especially near Naples and Sorrento. Beaches are busy between the months of July and August when the majority of Italians take their holidays. Beaches are equipped with loungers, umbrellas and chairs. You will find places to eat along the beach and bars. Further into the towns near the beaches you will find shops which sell toys and other items.

Naples Airport is a 40 minute drive away. Telese Terme is nearest rail station which is 5 minute drive. The train station services Naples, Caserta, Rome direct. Train travel is quite cheap in Italy and ideal to get around. However car hire is recommended to access all the areas in this region if you are booking a villa. Benevento is 30 minutes from Faicchio.

There is a comprehensive bus service which runs from the main road between Telese and Piedimonte Matese. From Telese you can get coaches to Rome, Naples, Sorrento etc.

Best kept secret of the area is the Royal Palace in Caserta. It is beautiful inside and out. Wonderful English gardens to walk through with a stunning waterfall and fountain at the end of the gardens. Well worth a visit.
